Haunted? Boy found dead and mother in critical condition in same hotel room two elderly people earlier died

A boy, 11, is dead and his mother in a critical condition after a suspected carbon monoxide leak in their North Carolina hotel room yesterday afternoon.

Jeffrey Lee Williams and mother Jeannie Williams, on vacation from Rock Hill, were found in a room on the second floor of the Best Western on King St, Boone, about 12.30pm, according to wsoctv.com.

The 49-year-old woman was rushed to Watauga Medical Center’s intensive care unit by ambulance for emergency treatment.

Police say the incident could be linked to the death of an elderly couple in the same hotel room on April 16.

The family’s pastor, Scott Davis of Northside Baptist Church in Rock Hill, told the Charlotte Observer relatives were devastated and Jefferey’s father traveled to Boone yesterday after hearing the news.

There are other children in the family, but they were not staying at the hotel.

Boone Police Department Sergeant Shane Robbins said the incident is still under investigation and nothing is being ruled out.

He confirmed that Jefferey and his mom were staying in the same room where an elderly couple were found dead less than two months ago.

‘It was actually the same room,’ he told WCNC.com.

‘But other than that, at this time, we don’t have any more links or correlation.’

He said investigators are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests, and can’t speculate about whether the two cases are connected.

Robbins said there did not appear to be any violence involved in the young boy’s death or the mother’s illness.

WCNC.com reported guests were evacuated from the hotel on Saturday.

Workers in hazardous materials suits were able to remove some of the guests’ belongings for them, so they could find another place to stay.

A regional HAZMAT team from Asheville was brought in to do forensic tests on the hotel room.
