Brace Yourself! GEJ says 2015 elections will be a positive shocker

SAFRICA-NIGERIA-DIPLOMACY-ECONOMY-TRADEPresident of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that the 2015 general elections will be a surprise to the world.

The President said this while at the traditional breaking of Ramadan fast with senators and members of the diplomatic corps, who joined him at the State House New Banquet Hall.

He reiterated his pledge to ensure the elections are more credible than expected.

“I know that one thing that is dear to your hearts is what the elections in this country will look like next year. But let me use this unique opportunity to reassure you and I’m conveying this to my brothers, your heads of government, that our elections next year will be free and fair.

“It will be very peaceful in nature that will even surprise the whole world.”

Jonathan, who also spoke about the importance of Ramadan fast, urged Muslims to seek God’s intervention in the various challenges confronting “our nations, especially nations facing civil strife, political instability, militancy, terrorism and financial crisis.

Elections in Nigeria have traditionally been accompanied by violence. The next election in the country will be in Osun State in two weeks, and yesterday, two people died in election related violence in Ilesha, Osun State.
