Another case of Ebola reported in Rivers

by Isi Esene

The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu has announced the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

This brings to three the number of incidents recorded in the oil rich state after a doctor who treated an infected ECOWAS staffer died.

The first victim in Port Harcourt reportedly boycotted surveillance in Lagos where the index case, Liberian-American, Dr. Patrick Sawyer was first diagnosed.

Chukwu confirmed that the latest addition to those two cases is a female patient who was reportedly on admission at the same hospital where the late doctor was also admitted.

“She is presently under treatment at the isolation ward in Rivers state,” he said.
