The All Progressives Congress has ordered for a new governorship ‎primary election in Bayelsa state.

The primary election conducted last week was fraught with irregularities and violence, hence its cancellation.

However, former governor of Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, had claimed to have won the ticket of the APC.

Prior to now, there had been confusion regarding the stance of the party regarding the election, but on Monday, National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, announced the cancellation.

Odigie-Oyegun stated this at the end of the party’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja.
