BREAKING: EFCC releases detained blogger, Abubakar Usman (PHOTO)

Abubakar UsmanAbubakar Usman, the blogger who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged ‘cyberstalking’ has reportedly been released.

Usman who runs the blog, Abusidiqu was believed to have been arrested for publishing a story critical of the Commission’s Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

According to reports from Premium Times, Usman’s lawyer, Michael Bello confirmed his release saying he is grateful for the concern shown by many people.

“I can confirm to you that my client has just been released on bail,” Mr. Bello said. “He is very grateful to Nigerians for voicing out against his detention.”

Bello said his client was released on an administrative bail with conditions that he must make himself available to the EFCC whenever he received an invitation to such effect.

Usman, whose phone line has been off, was arrested on Monday by the Commission’s operatives and has since been in EFCC custody.
