A massive attack is reportedly ongoing in Kautikari and Kwada village, seven kilometres away from Chibok town, Borno state with many villagers feared dead.

The attackers, according to report from locals in Chibok, targeted worshipers getting ready for the Sunday Service. About five churches including Deeper Life Bible Church were said to have been affected.

“They killed and burnt houses after attacking worshipers in five churches in Kwada; after that, they advanced to Kautikari, less than 8 kilometres to Chibok town, when they equally killed people and destroyed properties.

“I’m not sure security agencies have gone to rescue the villagers, but I learnt that the insurgents are still in pursuit of the remaining villagers,” a resident said.

Also, an official of Department of Security Service who asked not to be named has confirmed the ongoing attack to the online news platform, Premium Times.

“Yes, we also received the report, I believe action is being taken about now, but no one has been able to ascertain the nature or magnitude of the attack for now,”said the security source.

Over 200 girls were kidnapped in Chibok, Borno State over two months ago with many of them believed to have been held hostage by men of the Boko Haram Islamic sect operating mainly in the North-eastern part of the country.
