Budget-Padding Tracker: Did you know? Dogara snubbed the police yesterday

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, reportedly failed to honor the investigation of the Special Investigating Panel set up by the Inspector General of Police to investigate the budget padding scandal.

According to the Punch, Dogara failed to honor the invitation by the SIP because it wasn’t signed by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

Dogara and others mentioned in a petition written by embattled former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Jibrin Abdulmummin, were supposed to appear before the panel last Friday.

Jibrin had honored the invitation by the police on Tuesday and Friday. He reportedly went with documents to back up his claims of budget padding by the Speaker Dogara and other Principal Officers of the House.

A chairman of a House committee privy to the situation told The Punch that “The Speaker is the number four citizen of this country.

“If you are sending a letter to him, there should be a signature of the Inspector-General of Police on it.”
