Buhari should say the truth about his sudden vacation – Fayose

Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has described the statement from the presidency on the vacation of President Buhari as vague stating that “Nigerians deserve to know the truth about their President because the President is an open book that every Nigerians should be free to read.”

The governor who on Sunday, February 7, stated that he is in the know of the plot to use the Supreme Court to thwart his victory at the polls, declared that nothing would stop him from saying the truth about the issues in the country.

In a statement put out by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor noted that it was suspicious that Buhari, who embarked on an official visit to France and Britain on Tuesday, February 2 is suddenly on a five-day vacation in the United Kingdom.

While praying for the president’s safe return, the governor said “Nigerians deserve to know where exactly their president is spending his vacation.”

Fayose however, stated that Buhari did well by the law in handing over to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo as contained in the Constitution of Nigeria.

He said; “We were told last Tuesday, that Mr President was travelling to France and from there to London to attend the Syria Donor Conference, and that he would return to Nigeria this weekend.

“All of a sudden, we were told that the President was embarking on a five-day vacation. Where and why? We were not told.

“Curiously, it was at this same period, last year that President Buhari, who was at that time the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, disappeared from public, with lies told about him granting interviews in London.

“It is therefore important that in future, the presidency should be more explicit in communicating with Nigerians on issues regarding the President because a nation’s president is an open book that can be read by anyone.”
