‘Buhari’s govt encourages nepotism, illegal recruitment’

A civil society group, Citizens of Impact has questioned the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The group marched to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Wednesday in Abuja.

The protesters accused the government of President Buhari of nepotism and illegal recruitment into some government agencies.

Convener of the group, Daniel Olatunde, while addressing the protesters, alleged that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and Nigeria Prisons Service, NPS, conducted illegal recruitment exercises.

He added that some of the recruits paid huge amounts to get the jobs.

Olatunde also accused NPS of illegally backdating letters of appointment to 530 people in an attempt to cover its illegal recruitment exercise.

“No transparency as these exercises was done under the table.

“It is shocking the government has been loud in its silence. Nobody has investigated or reversed it….President Buhari came to power on the crest of anti-corruption campaign,” Olatunde said.
