The false assets declaration trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal has commenced.
Saraki, in usual fashion, came to court with an army of lawyers- numbering 80.
The lawyers are attempting to stop the trial of the Senate President, who is facing a 13 count charge of false asset declaration.
Following the announcement of the case on Friday morning, by the court clerk, the lead prosecution counsel, Kanu Agabi stated that the sheer number of lawyers defending Saraki would earn him a favourable ruling.
“We shall win as there are 80 of us on this side”, Kanu Agabi announced to the court as he read out the names of the lawyers in court with him.
This declaration elicited laughter from the Chairman of the Tribunal, Danladi Umar, and many others present in court.
