BUSTED: Man remanded in Kirikiri prisons after escaping from police custody

Tolu Akinbode, a 28-year-old man who allegedly escaped from police custody has been remanded in Kirikiri prison custody.

The suspect who does not have a specified address was arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court on charges of escaping from police custody.

He was later ordered to remain in Kirikiri Prison until the next day of adjournment.

Magistrate Taslimi Shomade has fixed November 28 for further hearing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused had on October 7  at about 11.45 a.m. escaped from police custody at Ilemba House Police Station.

He said the offence contravened Section 106 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The suspect may end up getting a two-year imprisonment he is eventually found guilty of the said crime.
