California Police shoot unarmed black man

A California Police officer on Wednesday shot an unarmed black man.

The incident occurred in El Cajon after the sister of the man, who is mentally unstable called the authorities to help her brother.

She said, “I called the 911 three times to come help my brother because he is mentally perturbed, and he needed help. And I thought they would send somebody to help him and get some crisis communication going on.

“The police officer of course came. He (her brother) was running around, crossing the street, he almost got himself knocked down by the car. So I had to tailgate him with my car so he doesn’t get hurt, and try to get some help so they can take him to the hospital.

“When the police officer came I told them and they finally got him.”

She said her brother was not holding a weapon when one of the officers shot him.

“Take your hand out your pocket, baby, or they’re going to shoot you.’ He said ‘no, no, no,’” the woman said. “When he lifted his hand out … he did have something in his hand but it wasn’t no gun, and that’s when they shot him.”

El Cajon police chief, Jeff Davis said the victim was indeed holding an object but it wasn’t a weapon.

This month black men have been shot and killed by police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in Charlotte, North Carolina.
