‘We won’t force people to surrender land for cattle grazing’ – FG

The Federal Government has said that there are no plans to seize anybody’s land for the implementation of the ranch development in Nigeria.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, revealed this when a delegation from Oyo state government led by the Special Adviser on Projects to the Oyo State Governor, Tolu Shadipe visited him.

Reacting to the protests that has erupted from different quarters against the plan of the government to create grazing reserves for the herdsmen, Ogbeh was quoted as saying, “The Federal Government is not going to seize anybody’s land or force people to surrender land for ranches.”

The minister also pledged to support Oyo state in taking advantage of its agricultural advantage.

He said, “I think ranching is something that can be controlled and it is something that can be carried out in Oyo State by farmers who want to do so, and for that we can give some support.”
