Champions League Roundup: Messi scores hat-trick in Barca’s 7-0 rout | Bayern hits 5 | Arsenal and PSG draw

Lionel Messi was the star of the night as the UEFA Champions League resumed hostilities tonight.

The Argentine scored a hat-trick in Barcelona’s 7-0 rout of Celtic at the Nou Camp. Luis Suarez scored a brace, as Neymar and Iniesta scored a goal apiece to complete the rout.

German Champions Bayern Munich started their challenge with a 5-0 whitewash of FC Rostov. A brace from Joshua Kimmich, and one goal from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Mueller, and Juan Bernat settled the tie.

Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain settled for a 1-1 draw at the Parc de Princes. Edinson Cavani opened the scoring with an header in 44 seconds. The Uruguayan was profligate in front of goal as he wasted many glaring opportunities to put the tie to bed.

Arsenal finally came to the party when Alexis Sanchez scored the equaliser in the 77th minute. The game ended with both Marco Veratti and Oliver Giroud getting red carded for an off the ball altercation.
