Fraudsters requesting money for release of Chibok girls – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that some fraudulent persons have been requesting for money from the Federal Government – to negotiate the release of the abducted Chibok girls.

While stressing that he wouldn’t fall for the whims of the fraudsters, the President said the rescue and safe return of the remaining Chibok girls still remains a top priority of his administration.

A statement was released to this effect by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who quoted the President to have spoken while receiving the Primate and Archbishops of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.

Buhari was quoted to have assured the clerics that his administration would carefully scrutinize the identities of any persons or groups claiming to have custody of the girls before negotiating with them.

“President Muhammadu Buhari said the remaining Chibok girls remains a top priority of his administration, he will not fall for the antics of fraudsters who have been asking the Federal Government for money to negotiate the release of the girls.”
