According to popular journalist and columnist, Tolu Ogunlesi, an e-mail was sent to him on Tuesday, 14 October, by a certain ‘Imam Abubakar Shekau’, alleging that the abducted Chibok girls would be released to the President to help him garner political goodwill.
In a couple of Tweets, Ogunlesi also stated that the email, which was written in good English, was addressed to the International Criminal Court
He was also quick to add that it might have been another ‘Wendell Simlin’ episode (Earlier in the year, Reno Omokri, social media advisor to President Goodluck Jonathan, was exposed as ‘Wendell Simlin’ after using the name to send an email to journalists, where he linked the Emir of Kano to the militant Islamist group Boko Haram)
Read Ogunlesi’s tweet below:
Email I got from “Imam Abubakar Shekau” on Oct 14 says Chibok girls “to be released (to GEJ) to score a cheap political point in Dec 2014.”

Thats the email I said was addressed to the International Criminal Court. Written in very good English, Jomo-Gbomo-style.

It could of course also be (quite likely, actually) the work of a Wendell Simlin kinda person.
