The minister of education, Ibrahim Shekarau, has announced the release of the O’Level results of the schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram on the night of April 14, 2014.
Although the minister did not disclose the pattern of results, he made the announcement during a stakeholders meeting at the National Assembly.
“This morning, I got a communication from West African Examinations Council that the result of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok, is out,”
“But we have to look at it via-a-viz the security situation and implication before the formal release. It is right now in my possession, because when the abduction took place, some remained and completed their examinations, while some were taking exams and they were abducted. “The result is haphazard. So, we’re addressing that this afternoon.”
Shekarau further added that later in the day, he would be meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan over the result and how to improve education, particularly for vulnerable female students. “In fact, by 1pm today, the President has scheduled a meeting in which I am attending, specifically to address some issues concerning the girls’ education in that troubled zone,” he said.
The schoolgirls who escaped from Boko Haram captivity have been offered university scholarships by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
It’s been five months since the abduction and some of the girls are already presumed dead and there is yet no hope that most of them would be re-united with their families some day, having spent over 150 days in captivity.

Ariana Grande experienced her first car crash whilst she was driving to Big Sean’s house.
The 21-year-old singer admits another driver smashed into her Range Rover as she was on the way to see her 26-year-old rapper boyfriend, whom she has been dating since the beginning of August, in Los Angeles.
Speaking in the October issue of Marie Claire magazine, she said: “I was driving to Big Sean’s house on those windy hills in Los Angeles.
“It was my first time going up those hills so I was going like 12 miles per hour. This lady was whipping around the corner, and I came to a complete stop so she bumped me really hard–the whole front of my Range Rover was wrecked.
“She jumped out and was like, ‘Sweetie, it’s okay, it’s totally fine. What do you do?’ I was like, ‘I’m a singer.’ And she was like, ‘Oh, I think I broke my leg.’ And I was like, ‘I mean, I make jewelry.’ ”
Meanwhile, Ariana and her new beau appeared to confirm their romance a few weeks ago when they were caught on a behind-the-scenes camera at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) holding hands.
The new couple’s romance came as a shock to fans as Big Sean – whose real name is Sean Anderson – only ended his five-month engagement to ‘Glee’ actress Naya Rivera in April this year.
