Army chief Buratai changes code name from Operation ‘Zaman Lafiya’ to Operation ‘Lafiya Dole’

As part of efforts to reinvigorate the fight against terrorism, the army has decided to rename its Operation ‘Zaman Lafiya’ as Operation ‘Lafiya Dole’.

‘Lafiya Dole’ translates to ‘Peace by Force.’

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Tukur Buratai disclosed this at 103 Battalion Nigerian Army based in Konduga, Borno State over the weekend.

In a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka on Monday, he said Buratai visited a number of units and troops during Sallah to interact with them and personally assess the operations.

He also used the occasion to inform the troops of his vision and the resolve to stop Boko Haram. He assured them of the government’s support. He also commended them for their resilience, bravery and dedication and enjoined them to take the initiative and be more proactive.

Based on the new thinking, the code name ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ is to send a strong and final warning signal to the terrorists that they cannot derail the wheel of peace in the northeast or any part of Nigeria.
