Court orders police, DSS to provide security at PDP Convention

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has asked the police and the Department of State Services to be on standby during the Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party billed to hold in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Wednesday.

Justice Ibrahim Watila who gave the judgement mandated the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of DSS to ensure that no causalities were recorded during the event.

The Secretary of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee, Senator Ben Obi, had approached the court to refrain the police, DSS and the Independent National Electoral Commission from interfering in the successful conduct of the national convention.

Justice Watila validated the holding of the forthcoming PDP national convention by also ordering INEC to ensure that it monitored the event in line with the law.
