by Kolapo Olapoju

Olaoluwa Joseph, a phony lawyer has been arrested for impersonating as a legal counsel in Akure.

He was arrested on Monday, 11 August, while appearing as a lawyer before Chief Magistrate Olarenwaju Adesanmi in Akure. Joseph was reportedly clad in a lawyer’s garb and had sat at the bar to defend a case, before he was apprehended.

A lawyer in the court, Olomoniyo Oluwabunmi, had informed the presiding magistrate that the suspect, who regularly appeared before the court was not a lawyer.

Policemen at the Area Commander’s office, Akure, were immediately called to investigate the case, after which they searched his house and discovered a bail bond used by the suspect to secure court bail for accused persons.

He was later arraigned at Chief Magistrate Court, Oke Eda, Akure, on a two count- charge of unlawful possession of lawyers’ bail bond and falsely representing himself as a lawyer before Chief Magistrate Court, Ondo Road, Akure.
