Dangote slides to 37th on the Forbes richest persons ranking

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote slid sharply from 23rd to the 37th position on the Forbes ranking in the last 24 hours.

Dangote who was ranked among the top 30 richest men in the world on Thursday fell fourteen places on Friday according to latest figures on the Forbes website.

Dangote, the chairman of the fast growing Dangote Group is said to be worth about $21 billion.

Others Nigerians who are ranked in the Forbes exclusive list are Globacom Chairman, Mike Adenuga, who is reportedly worth $4.6 billion; oil magnate, Folorunsho Alakija with $2.5 billion and Abdulsamad Rabiu who is said to be worth a sizeable $1.2 billion.

American billionaire, Bill Gates, reclaimed the title of world’s richest person from telecoms mogul, Carlos Slim Helu, of Mexico after four years.

Gates, according to Forbes, raked in extra $9bnin the last one year and has been at the top of the list for 15 of the past 20 years.
