EFCC battles SSS for Dasuki’s custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is leaning on the State Security Service to hand over former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki for interrogation over the investigation into arms purchase contracts during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Dasuki was arrested on Tuesday, December 1, and subsequently taken to the SSS headquarters where he’s being detained.

Joseph Daudu, the lawyer leading Dasuki’s legal team on Tuesday, told Premium Times that the EFCC exerted pressure on Justice Ademola to revoke the bail granted Dasuki by his court.

He added that the application was still sitting before the court.

However, a source at EFCC was quoted to have said the anti-corruption agency was working hard to ensure that Dasuki is transferred over for interrogation.

“We are working on that angle, whether he would be handed over today or not is what I cannot say with certainty for now,” the source stated.

“He is central to the investigation we are doing, and we really want him here. He has loads of questions to answer.”

The report further states that Dasuki ha refused to answer any question asked of him by the SSS, insisting that he’d only speak in the presence of his legal counsel or before a court, a close associate of his revealed.

“They have already indicted him without hearing from him,” said the associate, who out of fear of being witch-hunted by the government, pleaded for anonymity.

“So what’s the use asking him questions now? He will only say things in the open.” he stated.
