Hip hop artiste, Davido is currently embroiled in a controversy for failing to show up for an event he had reportedly been paid for.

Davido was one of those advertized to perform at the Festival of India, which took place in Lagos on Saturday, but was conspicuously absent.

The absence of the artiste left many guests disappointed as they wanted to see him perform.

According to The Punch some of the guests expressed their surprise that he was included amongst those billed to perform at the event.

However, the organisers of the event stressed that Davido was indeed invited.

The chief organiser, Bolaji Rosiji, who spoke on the matter said it was premature to comment on the matter.

Other people in the know of the event said the contract between the Festival of India and the artiste is in the region of N7m.

Reports say Davido informed the organisers on Friday night – a day to the event – that he was indisposed.

In an attempt to secure a refund of the fee that has been paid, the organisers have communicated with Davido’s lawyers.

The artiste and his management team are yet to speak on the matter.
