Delta youths injure Navy officers in a fracas

A minor conflict which occurred between youths of Ode-Ugborodo community in Warri South-West Area of Delta, and Nigerian Navy officers of the state has left two officers injured.

The Nigerian Navy said on Monday that two of its officers were injured in a skirmish between its officers and youths of Ode-Ugborodo community in Warri South-West Area of Delta.

Femi Uwaway, a member of Ugborodo Export Processing Zone (EPZ) Interface Committee, who confirmed the incident described it as a
little skirmish.

Commander of the State’s Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS), Capt. Musa Gemu, who also confirmed the incident, declined to make a statement. he however said that he further details will be made available at the “appropriate time”.

It will be recalled that few days ago, the military had restored peace in the community and resettled people who were displaced by recent crisis in the area.

The youths were alleged to have confronted the security personnel at about 2.00 a.m. and ordered them to vacate the community.
