FG disregards Avengers’ threat, begins work on destroyed pipeline

In spite of the Niger Delta Avengers’ warning against the repair of any destroyed oil installation in the oil rich region while dialogue is on, the Nigerian government has began work on a blown up pipeline.

According to Vanguard, repair work has started on the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) pipeline at Ubefan Creek in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State.

The pipeline was recently destroyed by the militants.

Sources within the community confirmed the development, noting that soldiers were escorting boats loaded with equipment and workers to the site of the pipeline repair.

Speaking on the issue, the chairman of Kunukunuma Federated Communities, Moses Bebenimibo, complained that the contractors carrying out the repairs failed to involve the host community.

He noted that the government was more interested in the oil that flows through the community rather than the people living in the community.

“They are good in using the military to always intimidate and subdue us in matters that affect us as a people from this end.”
