Angel Di Maria has completed his £59.7 million move to Manchester United – a new British record transfer fee.

The winger, who was voted Man of the Match as Real Madrid clinched their La Decima in May, is now the fifth most expensive player in the world and will pick up about £200,000 per week.

Di Maria said after his unveiling: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining. United is the only club I would have left Real Madrid for.

“I’m impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top.”

Di Maria is expected to make his Premier League debut this weekend against Burnley and United manager Louis van Gaal is delighted to have him in the squad.

“Angel is a world-class midfielder, there’s no doubting his immense natural talent,” he said.

“His dribbling skills and ability to beat opponents are a joy to watch. He’s an excellent addition.”
