Dimeji Alara’s fashion diary: Who’s that girl?

by Dimeji Alara

girl

I first saw her at Elie Saab’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 collections during the Paris Couture in January 2013. She arrived wearing a blue metallic trench from Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2013 Ready to Wear collection, a collection that was still yet to hit the stores and a Louis Vuitton fetishistic cap, the photographers screaming her name from left to right, causing a frenzy. “Who’s that girl?”, I immediately asked my sister who was sitting right next to me but she herself had no clue. From a distance, she almost looks like Cara Delvigne. “Could it be Cara?”, I thought to myself. But I was wrong, it wasn’t Cara or not even one of the Courtin Clarins sisters. Whoever this girl is, she is certainly special.

Immediately after the show, we made our way out quickly, hurrying to the Metro, so I could catch up with Jean Paul Gaultier’s show, which was just a few minutes away. And just as I was about crossing the streets, I noticed a crowd of photographers and bystanders. And there was Elena, right in the middle of the road, striking a pose for the photographers. “Who’s this girl?”, I kept wondering to myself as my sister and I stood watching the whole scenario. Well, “I’ll probably never know or see her again”, I thought to myself, but I was so wrong. Just as we arrived Jean Paul Gaultier’s atelier on Rue Saint Martin, I bumped into Elena again, this time she was wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier crochet sweater and off white pants, looking completely different. And that’s when we got talking.

A day later, I bumped into Elena again!!! this time at the lobby of Le Meurice a few distance from Place de la Concorde where I was meeting Vogue’s Hamish Bowles. Well, the shows are just a few weeks away and I’m hoping to bump into Elena in Fall’s (2014) new looks!!! See more of her recent looks below:
