Online news platform, Sahara Reporters has alleged that Senator Dino Melaye, operates a foreign account with the Bank of America (BOA).
Operating a foreign account is against the code of conduct for public office holders in Nigeria.
The news medium disclosed via its Twitter handle that Melaye’s last transaction on the account was on December 4.
Earlier this week, Melaye raised a Point of Order against Sahara Reporters for ‘blackmail and intimidation’ adding that the platform is ‘a threat to democracy with their continued act of insubordination.’
Melaye asked the senate to petition the United States government on the activities of the news agency which he says is dangerous to Nigeria’s democracy.
The Kogi-born politician is one of the proponents of the social media bill, which seeks to stifle Nigerians’ freedom of speech, among other things.
