A 30-year-old trader, Kafila Akinbiyi, on Thursday, urged an Igando Customary Court to dissolve her nine-year-old marriage, alleging that her husband’s high sex drive was affecting her.

“Anytime I come back from market, my husband, Gbenga, will not allow me to rest,” she said. “He ceaselessly makes love to me and is not easily satisfied. If I refuse, he will beat me and forcefully have his way.”

The mother of three accused her husband of also doubting her faithfulness and destroying goods in her shop whenever he encounters a male customer there.

Gbenga, 36, did not deny the allegations. However, he told the court that his wife usually charges him N1,000 whenever he wants to have sex with her; and also accused her of being promiscuous.

“I am no longer interested in the marriage and I consent to the dissolution of the union,” he said.

Court president, R. I. Adeyeri, adjourned the case to June 10 for judgement.
