Following claims yesterday that the vehicle of the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah was shot at by gunmen, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has said that the incident is yet to be established as an assassination attempt.
The spokesperson of the command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Altine Daniel said yesterday that the minister was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident and therefore cannot be regarded as an attempt on her life.
According to reports:
“The driver claimed there was an attack on the vehicle which is still being investigated by the police,” she said. She added that a ballistic examination of a metallic object connected to the incident shows that it is not a bullet.
Daniel also noted that the incident occurred at about 10 pm on Friday, but was only reported to the police on Monday. An aide to the minister was on Monday quoted to have claimed that it was an assassination attempt.
Oduah is currently under investigation by a presidential panel as well as the House of Representatives for authorising the purchase of two bullet proof cars not approved in this year’s budget.
