The maxi skirt is the opposite of the mini skirt. They are full-bodied, long, free-flowing and usually not as clingy.

The maxi skirt is very weather appropriate right now because of the light material that they are made with. They come in plain patterns, floral and in animal prints too and of course there is the sheer maxi skirt.

I’ve picked out a few tips to pep up your maxi skirt:

1.       The belt.

This helps to cinch the waistline of your skirt and a contrasting colour always helps. For instance, be adventurous with a purple belt on a turquoise maxi skirt. Monogrammed belts also look good on the waist of a maxi skirt, so do studded belts.

2.    The necklace

This comes in different lengths, there is the necklace and also the pendant which drops downwards and is much longer. A maxi skirt should be worn without a statement neck piece, long or short.

3.    The bowler hat

This accessory works well for the rocker-punk chic look, which can be achieved by wearing your maxi, letting your hair down and then topping the look with the hat. These hats can also be accessorised with a brooch.

4.    The crop or bustier top

Either gives the maxi skirt an edgy look. The crop top works for those who are not afraid to show their midriff. It’s a dainty combination with the maxi.

5.    The Wedge and the sandals

These shoes work well with the maxi skirt, most especially open-toe wedges, which show off a great pedicure. This open-toe trend works with the maxi skirt because though you can’t show off a lot of leg, the long fabric ending in brightly coloured toe nails and gorgeous shoes works great.

 As for the sandals, they are for a more toned down, boho-chic look, sandals work well for a busy day as well as a day at the beach.

 6.    The Waist coat and the Blazer

Adding any one of these to a maxi skirt ensemble is a great look. It frames the entire outfit. 

The maxi skirt trend can be quite easy to pull off as it fits all body types, slim or full-figured. However, simple it may seem, one has to be careful in picking the right size so it doesn’t seem like the skirt is wearing you, instead of the vice versa. 

The sheer Maxi is a look for the bold, it’s a maxi skirt made of a see through fabric. It’s great for making a fashion statement and is very edgy and fierce. In wearing the sheer maxi, care has to be taken so it doesn’t appear trashy.
