Lagosians who reside around the Obafemi Awolowo Road in the Ikeja area of the city experienced an involuntary quivering movement in the ground this morning.
Some eye witnesses who took to social media platform, Twitter, to narrate their experience, claimed the tremor occurred around 1130.
One of the witnesses with Twitter handle, @god4franco said “Earth tremor, serious vibration of all buildings in OPEBI Allen axis….like something huge was moving beneath the earth, scared to shit, the entire building shaking vigorously, my colleague and myself are scared to our pants, this is the first time I am experiencing such in my life, very scary”
Another @Willsie tweeted “Anyone else hear loud bang in/near Ikeja. Was it too brief to be an earth tremor?”
An earth tremor is another term for an earthquake, although it is most commonly used to describe earthquakes of low intensity.
Shaking and ground rupture are the main effects created by earthquakes, principally resulting in more or less severe damage to buildings and other rigid structures.
