#Ebola: Nigerian quarantined in South Korea

South Korean health authorities have quarantined a Nigerian with high fever following Ebola fears.

He was quarantined on Friday as a precautionary move to check whether he has been infected with the Ebola virus.

The Korea Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says they are conducting detailed tests on the man, but judging by clinical specimens and his symptoms, it seems unlikely that he has contracted the deadly hemorrhagic fever.

The KCDC revealed that the man arrived in the country on Thursday, 4 September, via a flight that took off from Doha, Qatar.

A health official said the man is a resident of Aba, Abia state. “The man is a resident of Aba, a Nigerian city 500 kilometers from Lagos, where Ebola cases have been reported.”

“Because his body temperature reached 38.2 degrees Celsius on arrival and he did not clearly state why he wanted to enter the country, he was not allowed in the country by immigration officials. He was then put on another plane heading for Doha early Friday, but the jet had to return to Incheon International Airport after he again experienced a high fever.”

In recent time, several Nigerians have been quarantined abroad after showing Ebola-like symptoms. Case in point, a 3 2-year-old Nigerian man travelling from Lagos was quarantined after showing Ebola-like symptoms during a trip to Hong Kong.

A Nigerian man resident in Antequera, Malaga was also quarantined on Monday, 1 September, after showing potential symptoms of the Ebola virus disease

Since the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus disease in West Africa, 1,900 peopla have reportedly died from the disease.
