The World health Organisation has disclosed that one of its health officials has contracted the Ebola virus disease.
The unidentified official reportedly got the virus while working with infected victims in Sierra Leone.
The apex world health body revealed this on Sunday, 24 August, saying this is the first time one of their staffs would be infected with the deadly disease.
According to WHO, the employee is “receiving the best care possible,” but no further details were provided.
WHO stated that it does not know for certain how the staff contracted the disease, adding that it would make all necessary treatments available to take care of the victim.
The World Health Organisation has been active in its support of West Africa, since the outbreak of the Ebola virus disease, which has claimed over 1,300 lives so far.
