Ekene Onu: I learned how to win and how to fail (30 days of Gratitude)

When I was younger, there was a saying “life begins at forty”. I didn’t understand it then but I fully grasp it now.

Why?

Because now in my early forties, I have perspective. I am clearer on what is really important to me and I am unapologetic about my values.

This year I learned how to win and how to fail and both lessons were invaluable. I had a few great wins and I learned that each win raises the bar.

Each wow creates a higher standard.  I had a few failures too and I learned that failure is just data and if you choose to analyze it, it just may hold the key to success.

This year I learned how to hold on and when to let go. I learned that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is to walk away but also sometimes the most loving thing is to confront things when necessary.

Conflict doesn’t have to be a bad thing. The Chinese ideogram for conflict contains two characters: One means “danger” and the other “hidden opportunity.

Conflict is an opportunity and as such should not be feared.

My plans for 2016 are to be fully present in each moment. To seize every hour of everyday. I plan to grow my business and continue to seek out opportunities to have a greater impact in the world.
