El-Rufai reduces Kaduna commissioners

The new government is hit by the economic crisis happening in the country and as such begins to make different effort to cut cost of governance.

In this bid, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has reduced the number of commissioners from 24 to 13, a move that was against the 24 previously appointed by the past administration of Mukhtar Yero.

Punch reports that El-Rufai intends to place strict limits on the number of aides that the 13 commissioners could recruit in the discharge of their duties. In a statement by the governor’s spokesman Samuel Aruwan, El-Rufai outlined from the beginning that the state government must direct more of its resources to delivering public services notng that such a move required a reduction in the proportion consumed by government.

El-Rufai also announced the restructuring of its ministries from 19 to 13, a move is said was intended to cut costs, spur efficiency and improve on service delivery.
