‘Even America and France were recently attacked by terrorists’ – Ali Ndume

Senate leader, Ali Ndume who represents Borno South, has expressed his confidence in the military in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists.

The senator believes that so much has been done by the military to recapture communities from the grip of the insurgents.

In addition to his belief in the military, the senator stated that it was not out of place to start the reconstruction, rehabilitation and relocation of the communities destroyed from attacks by the terrorists.

He revealed this while speaking to pressmen in Maiduguri on Sunday, February 7, stating that “I still have confidence in our military, I still want to believe that our military are on top of the situation.

“What is happening these days is the issue of intermittent suicide bombing and desperate attacks by the insurgents because their supply routes have been cut off and they attack in other to get supplies. They have been carting away foodstuffs of attacked communities.”

He stated that despite the recent increase in the spate of attacks from the insurgents, the reconstruction and relocation should still commence.

Ndume, while justifying the government’s claims that Boko Haram had been incapacitated, said that Nigeria does not have a monopoly of terrorist attacks, citing that the United States of America and France have in recent times come under terrorist attacks.

He further stated that the people displaced by the terrorists are now ready to return home particularly the people of Gwoza, where the senator hails from.

He further revealed that arrangements have already been made for their return.
