‘Many are called but few are chosen’, so millions of music acts may emerge over time but only a few will stand the test of time and be called legends. The principle is no different when it comes to songs. With over a million Nigerian songs, only a few have acquired the title ‘evergreen’.
Evergreen classics will be played by our children and their children in the same way we play Marley’s No woman, no cry, Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable, Sinatra’s My way, UB 40’s I got you babe, BoyzIIMen’s End of the road and so many more.
Scoring an all time classic is no joke. Of the tens of hits songs from Mo’Hits, only Mobolowowon, Ololufe and Fall in love may become evergreen and sadly the Choc boys don’t have an evergreen classic yet. Mode9 has one from his fifty-something songs – Cry, and Djinee’s Ego is also a classic.
Let’s list more Evergreen classic Naija songs. We’ll list the first 15 and you can add the rest!
