Former minister’s son dies in power-bike accident

by Isi Esene

Mohammed Dalhatu, first son of former minister of Power and Steel, Bashir Dalhatu recently died in a power bike accident on his way back Abuja from a biker’s convention in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Mohammed, 34, was reported to have fallen from his power-bike and run over by two vehicles, but other sources say a trailer actually hit Mohammed from behind before he was crushed by an oncoming vehicle.

He reportedly died instantly.

Mohammed had on October 1 told his driver to drive along while he rode on his power-bike on his return trip to Abuja.

A source said Mohammed “was on his bike and put on his full kit when a trailer hit him from behind. Another vehicle that was coming from the other side of the road later crushed him and dragged him into the bush.

“Mohammed died on the spot. The vehicle mangled his body. His remains were flown in a chartered plane back to Kano, his home town, and he had since being buried according to Islamic rites.”

A tragic accident indeed, may God rest his soul.
