So we recently ran into superstar Wizkid  as he takes a break from touring the world, and we didn’t hold back on the questions!

Every musician seems to have his/her own dance step these days—azonto, egbiti, etc—what of yours?
I don’t have one o! I just move with the music.

How are you managing stardom and being a dad?
I really cannot answer that question (laughter). I don’t even have any answer.

What keeps your energy level up when performing?
Response from the crowd keeps me high. I love to perform and feel my audience.

Have you ever had a non-responsive audience?
Ah, yes! My youthful charm fall my hand o! One was a corporate event at Civic Centre. They didn’t respond to anyone either. It can be very demoralising for me especially but I just do my thing. Perform for myself and enjoy it.

Are you threatened by Davido and the rest?
Why? I believe there’s space for everyone to excel.

Even though he has the same youthful charm and is obviously stealing into your fanbase?
Not really. I mean, I can’t expect to be the only star now, you get? It happens and he has his fan base and I still got mine.

What’s on your mind about Nigeria at the moment?
Everyone is worried about Nigeria, Boko Haram, Niger Delta, etc. Even out of the country they always ask you about Nigeria and if it’s safe.

Have you ever been embarrassed because you are Nigerian anywhere in the world?
No, actually. Every country has its bad eggs but we are mostly good people and a lot of us are shining across the world. Nigerians are doing well across the world even in Malaysia.

If you had a choice of dual citizenship, what country would you choose?
Dual citizenship- I’ll choose… I love Nigeria, I love my country so much I won’t trade my Green P.

If you were the President for one day, what issue would you tackle?
Ha, 24 hours is too small na! Electricity. If there’s power, a lot will be better in this nation.
