Explosions, shooting in Kano as troops and militants clash

by Adeola Balogun

The Kano metropolis was wracked with violence this morning after multiple explosions and gunshots were heard in an area of the city.

The shelling of ammunition was evidence of an ongoing battle between security troops and suspected militants in the state.

The affected part was the Gayawa village environs of the Ungogo Local Government area of the state.

Vanguard reports:

An eyewitnesses told Vanguard that, “The early morning military raid lasted for one and half hours and there are fears of heavy casualties among the suspected insurgents”.

Vanguard learnt that Tuesday’s operation was on the heels of a raid where two soldiers and two suspected terrorists were killed in the city.

Efforts to speak with the JTF commanders for confirmation proved abortive.
