Eye on Ambode: Lagos state to disburse N25m Employment Trust Fund to artisans, more

We bring you a recap of the activities of Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode in the past week.

On Wednesday, Governor Ambode was at the graduation ceremony of 500 artisans and tradesmen and women in the state. At this event, the governor made it known that the state will be disbursing N25million Employment Trust Fund (ETF) initiative to the informal sector starting this December. N6.25 million will be disbursed per annum for the next four years. etf

The governor said, “Let me tell you clearly that the N25bn ETF is for artisans and entrepreneurs in Lagos State. We will commence disbursement from the month of December, 2016 and let me assure you that a larger percentage will go to our carpenters, our tailors, our hairdressers, our vulcanizers, and so on. Everybody that is a tradesman and is an artisan in Lagos will have automatic access to the Employment Trust Fund (ETF)“.etf-2

He also made it known that the economy of Lagos state benefits largely from the informal sector and will not depend on oil production to solve its economic challenges, reiterating that his administration is not the type to ignore artisans and their contribution to the state’s growth and economic development.

Alongside other APC SouthWest governors and the party’s elders, Governor Ambode attended the 1st annual black tie gala of the Tristate Heart Foundation at Oriental Hotel, VI. At the event, the governor stated that he is happy to support any initiative that is invested in saving lives. tri

He pledged the support of the state government for the Foundation.
