FaithNaija: Don’t sit there and die!

A Message by Bishop Mike Okonkwo

“And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, why sit we here until we die.” – II Kings 7:3

In overcoming the siege, the first thing is to recognise that you are in a siege. Having recognised that fact, don’t sit down and wallow in self-pity. Take your destiny in your hands and move forward.

The lepers in the above text were confined and refused entry into the town by reason of their condition. However, one day they said to themselves “why sit we here till we die”. Beloved, nothing falls on you like a bag of cherries. Nothing works that is not worked. To get out of the siege, you must consciously get up and move forward. Like the lepers, decide that you will not sit in that condition till you die.

The world may have defined you; your situation may have named you; but like the lepers, take your destiny in your hands, arise and move forward in faith. Let us look at the lepers’ decision. They knew that there was no food in the city, that is why there were so much deaths on the streets – people dying daily of hunger. They knew the only way was to advance towards the enemy’s territory. They also knew that they had no might against the people, so if the Lord does not help them, they were doomed. In spite of all this, they still chose to match forward and guess what happened? God took their step of faith and turned it into the sound of war so loud that the enemies fled.

Today, as you rise up from your condition and match forward in obedience to the word of God, I pray that the Lord will honour His word and give you victory. The siege is over in Jesus’ name.
