A father’s constant beating of his 16-year-old boy, Lekan Isiaka, has led to his arrest.
Apparently, he had been brutally beating his son for two year up until the boy developed seizure and child rights activists were alerted by the neighbours.
According to reports by Punch, Lekan has almost lost the use of his left arm completely, as he couldn’t lift it when asked why the arm hung at an awkward angle neither could he move his neck normally.
Narrating his ordeal, Lekan explained that his father beat him mostly when he is intoxicated. One of such occasions was a night he so brutally beat and pushed him down from the top of the stairs of their two-storey building apartment.
“After I landed on the ground, my neck became very painful and I could not move my head. I also could not move my left arm,”
After that, his father dismissed the injuries sustained assuring the young lad that it would heal on its own.
Another occasion was when he would beat him with the buckle of a belt or knock his head with a stone he kept in the house resulting to his head gushing out blood after the father’s beating.
And yet another, as Lekan narrated, was when his father had just finished smoking Indian hemp, he would tell him to stand up from the bed and face the wall throughout in order to punish him, while he slept.
This is beyond terrible.
