by Mark Bassey

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been notified that the Federal High Court sitting in Jos, will commence contempt proceedings if it goes ahead to hold the 30 September election into the association’s board, in Warri.

The notice of contempt was pasted at the entrance of the football secretariat, which has the president of the NFF, Aminu Maigari, Musa Amadu, NFF secretary-general, Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo and the 36 State FA Chairmen, including FCT, were mentioned in the form.

The notice says, “notice of consequences of disobedience to order of court’. Take notice that unless you obey the directions contained in this order, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison,.”

On Monday, 29 September, a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau, granted the request of plaintiffs, Yahaha Adama and Obinna Ogba, board members of the Chris Giwa-led board of the NFF.

The plaintiffs had obtained an injunction on 19 September to halt the 30 September board election, stating that the Maigari-led faction had fixed a fresh NFF election after an election that brought in the Giwa-led board.
