A witness testified on Thursday, that the result of Kogi West senatorial district election was doctored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, in favour of Senator Dino Melaye.
Feinti Dada, revealed to the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal that Melaye, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was not the rightful winner of the election.
Dada was the agent of Melaye’s challenger- Senator Smart Adeyemi of the PDP- during the election.
He was the first witness called by the petitioner’s counsel, Lateef Fagbemi, and he stated that the election was marred by irregularities in 21 units of five wards in Lokoja LGA of the state.
Under cross examination, Dada said that the result of the recount ordered by the tribunal proved that INEC recorded voided votes during the election in favour of Melaye.
Furthermore, he revealed to the tribunal that Melaye did not go through primary election before emerging the candidate of the APC.
