First Bank launches its Youth Excel Series in Lagos

As part of its efforts to present itself as the bank of choice for Nigerian youth, First Bank Nigeria, Plc., organized the Youth Excel Series at the University of Lagos Main Auditorium on February 26, 2013.

The event which was anchored by comedian, Jedi, enlightened the audience, made-up of mainly students, about the bank’s products specially targeted at the youth.

According to Akin Meadows of the Product and Marketing Support Division of the bank, “We have products and services which are targeted at the youth like the First Instance Account; the Regular Savings Account, and the Hybrid Savings Account.”

While explaining further, Meadows said “The First Instance Account is designed for young students and it has an easy entry feature; the Regular Savings Account which can be opened with N1,000 and a minimum balance of N2,000; and the Hybrid Savings Account which is a savings account with the features of a current account.”

In an announcement which got many students excited, Meadows disclosed the imminent introduction of a financial product specially designed with students in mind. He said this product will give a considerable number of students an opportunity to secure employment opportunity after leaving school.

Another highlight of the event was the introduction of customized ATM cards called Expressions Cards where card users are given the option of putting their favorite pictures on their ATM cards.

As is expected of an event organized by First Bank, the Youth Excel Series featured music and quiz competition to test the students’ knowledge of the bank’s products and services.

Mr. Oze K. Oze, the bank’s Head of Publicity and Marketing was on hand to present prices to quiz winners with the runners-up going home with First Bank branded Monopoly Games. The winner got an iPod presented by the Group Head, Retail Banking, Mr. Tunde Owolabi.

Mr. Wollie Jolley, a motivational speaker and author of the book: ‘A set back is a set up for a comeback’, who was also at the event to address the students and assist them in unlocking their potentials.

The event was filled with fun and games, and everything to showcase First Bank’s appeal to the youth.

You can never go wrong with First Bank as evidenced by the Youth Excel Series. The FirstBank Youth Excel Series is in accordance with the Bank’s quest to empower and develop the communities in which they operate as it has invested in and supported other youth initiatives that are designed to encourage entrepreneurship, industry and excellence.

The next event will take place at the University of Ibadan on Thursday, February.
