Ikogosi's warm and cold spring

The site of the first plane crash in Nigeria is to become a tourist attraction, reports say.

The crash scene in Ikogosi in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti was recorded in April 12, 1942 at about 8.15 p.m. as the site where a war plane crashed.

Pa. Olu Adeniyi, one of the elders of the Community, who claimed he was an eye-witness to the incident, recalled that the plane contained arms and ammunition, including explosives that went off with loud bangs throughout the night.

The Special Adviser to the state Governor on Tourism Development, Segun Ologunleko, who inspected the crash site on Wednesday in Ikogosi-Ekiti, said the decision was to turn the state into attractive tourism destination in West Africa.

He said government’s determination to make the state a place where people could visit and see the relics of the airplane would complement the appeal of the warm spring in the area as Ikogosi town is also famous for being the home to warm and cold water co-existing together on the same spot.

Visible at the site, were the relics of the two engines of the plane and other aluminium and metal materials.

  1. To do what with it. Why waste money on something like that. Invest these money on making sure other planes do not crash. One old man or woman has decided a new way to steal money

  2. Nigeria!!! Celebrates a place were live and properties were lost ? Does government have any human sympathy in their hearts ?
