Flicker of hope: Jonathan, ASUU explore ways of resolving 4-month-old strike

A meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the academic staff Union of Universities went underway Monday in Abuja to find a way of resolving the four month old strike by University Lecturers.

The meeting which kicked off at about 2:30pm had in attendance, the President, the Vice President, the secretary to the government of the federation, ministers of education and labour.

The ASUU delegation was made up of the Chairman of ASUU, Dr Fagge and other members of the executive of the Union.

The President of Nigerian Labour Congress, Mallam Abdulwaheed Omar was also in attendance.

While exchanging pleasantries with the ASUU delegation, President said ‘I hope this strike will end today. Our children have suffered enough. We must find a solution’.
