Since its launch in 1993, the FIFA video game series has never featured female teams. This year’s installment, FIFA 16, will be the first edition to not only feature female teams, but will feature a female cover athlete. American forward and World Cup winner Alex Morgan will be one of the first women to appear on the cover of the best selling video game.

“It is an incredible honour to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA Sports Fifa,” said Morgan, who is the best paid player in women’s football.
“I know people all over the world play this game and I’m really excited that Fifa 2016 is putting such an important spotlight on women’s soccer.”
